Dear Friends,

I am blown away by this church – and by all of you!

Last week the former pastor of Flinders Street Baptist in Adelaide, Rev Scott Cadman, said to me, in relation to the letter we’d received from Assembly Council, that – if you have a good church – you can trust the church to work their way through a situation.

“Belinda,” he said. “You have a good church. They will work their way through this.”

And that was certainly true on Sunday in our church meeting!

We had a good discussion (after a long time for prayerful consideration) and what we unanimously approved on Sunday is an extraordinary statement – one that affirms our commitment to following Jesus, our Baptist values, and our love and support for all the members of our community.

I was very proud to be a part of this church on Sunday.

This is my last Sunday to Sunday for 2024!

From next Monday, 2 Dec, you will be receiving an Advent reflection written by a member of our church each weekday (though you can opt out if this is too much mail). I have had a sneak peek at some of these reflections and they are wonderful! Enjoy!

After a break in January, I’ll resume sending out Sunday to Sunday on 29 January 2025.

But – before I go – thinking about how we can make a good church an even better church! – can I remind you one more time about joining a small group in 2025 (or readying your small group for new people)  and about taking up an opportunity for service in 2025!

Our small groups are listed below – and the service opportunities below that! Please speak to the people mentioned – or to myself belinda@canbap.org or Steve steve@canbap.org  – if you would like more information.

Grace and peace to all of you as we enter this Advent season of waiting expectantly for the coming of Jesus!

Belinda
